We organize large amounts of information to add intelligence to our processes and decisions

For some years now at Repsol, we’ve been immersed in an ambitious Digital Transformation Plan aimed at consolidating our energy transition. One of the pillars of this digitalization involves becoming a data-driven organization; and in order to achieve this, our Data & Analytics Hub developed ARiA.

This Big Data and Artificial Intelligence cloud platform centralizes all of the company’s data to develop analytical models and algorithms that help improve processes and decision-making.

ARiA supports hundreds of digital initiatives that are being carried out in our different business units. For example: InWell collects extraction data of wells from all over the world to be able to control them from Madrid. Another example is Vivit, which helps our customers save by detecting which electrical appliance uses the most energy at home.

Developed based on Microsoft Azure, ARiA includes various solutions for data ingestion, cloud configurations, data governance tools, and machine learning models. It also aids in the democratization of data as it enables anyone, regardless of their knowledge of analytics, to access information of greater value.

Moreover, ARiA is fundamental as the basis for various initiatives that have been launched within the company related to the data culture. For instance, the information provided by this platform is used to organize Hackia, an innovation and entrepreneurship hackathon event that has already resulted in interesting proposals. Another initiative is Data School, a periodic training aimed at profiles that until now have not worked with data. Here, they acquire new knowledge and skills to have a better experience with the platform and be able to use the information and all the possibilities ARiA offers.

ARiA is regarded as a pioneering tool in the sector, which is demonstrated by the various awards it has already received. In fact, we've launched it outside the organization to assist other companies in deploying and accelerating the use of Big Data and AI in their fields.

Our calling is to keep evolving this platform and continue as leaders in digital transformation and the use of data. To this end, our Data & Analytics Hub comprises a highly-trained team with profiles from different disciplines such as engineering and data science, and it hasn’t stopped growing.

Digitalization: the key pillar to ensure the success of our Strategic Plan

In 2018, we launched the First Wave of the Digital Program (2018-2022), a company-wide initiative.

In this initiative, businesses are the protagonists of their own digital transformation.

Following the completion of the first stage, we have extended the Program with a Second Digital Wave (2023-2027).
